The Emerging Artists Trust (EAT) is a charitable trust which was established in 2007 to support emerging practitioners in the Film, Theatre, and Visual Arts industries.
EAT is based in Wellington and focuses its resources on practitioners living in the Wellington region – this includes supporting ‘new Wellingtonians’.
EAT encourages the development of high quality creative work and a skillled, confident workforce.
The Trust supports new artists taking the first steps toward establishing a sustainable career in the arts, as well as more established artists transitioning from one discipline to another.
EAT provides three types of support:
I still am confident that I will succeed but during each mentoring session I was shocked at how little I knew.
A mentor provides guidance, experience, motivation, and connections
Having an experienced documentary filmmaker as a mentor has definitely given me the confidence to meet the challenges of a first time filmmaker.
[My mentor] is just great and a massive dose of reassurance everytime…wisdom
I felt supremely confident that I could produce and direct my first fully professional play.
Mentorship from EAT provides a unique engagement.
Having an experienced documentary filmmaker as a mentor has definitely given me … confidence.
not only was I receiving great advice but I was taking it on wholeheartedly
Each session we had together lifted me to a completely new level of understanding.
I really do need your guidance, so thank you for that!
