Tanemahuta Gray is a professional producer, event and theatre director and choreographer, with management skills in both creative performance and technical production areas. He adds value to projects he is involved in at both a management and hands-on level through an innovative and solution focused approach. Tanemahuta likes to think outside the square and come up with unique and creative solutions to problems, finding a fresh perspective for the team to bounce off.

Tanemahuta Gray offers over 27 years of experience in the Performing Arts industry and 15 years as a director, producer, choreographer, performer and 3 years as an event creator and manager. Fluent in English and conversational in Spanish and Maori, Tanemahuta draws on his lengthy international experience to create and develop productions and events that have rich bi-cultural and multi-cultural components to them.

His experience includes directing and producing Maui – One Man Against The Gods over 4 separate seasons nationwide, and two Manawatu regional events called the Elements Carnival in both outdoor and arena set ups. He has recently completed directing and managing Tribute08 – a Vietnam Commemoration that required him to balance nine different events both over and surrounding Queens Birthday Weekend, 2008. The stakeholders included the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Culture and Heritage, Prime Minister’s office and Minister’s of Defence and Veteran Affairs, New Zealand Defence Force, Wellington City Council, Toi Maori, The Governor General’s office, the Returned Services Association and the Ex-Vietnam Services Association.
Tanemahuta is married with one daughter and one son. His pastimes include watching all forms of theatre, films, sports, kapa haka, taiaha and reading.
